Why Oil?
The very best way to strengthen your nails is with a high quality, jojoba wax ester based nail oil.
Because it is the only oil molecule most like our body’s natural oil (sebum) and small enough to penetrate the nail plate.
I invented the 3-Day Hydration Treatment™ by trial, experiment, and listening to my nails. (Totally geeky sounding—I know!)
During my initial nail care research binge in 2012, I learned that oil could make my nails less brittle. But on the first day of using my Simply Pure™ hydrating oil blend, the oil disappeared 30 minutes after I applied it!
My logical conclusion was—add more. I just kept adding until I felt like I didn’t need to add more.
That took 3 days.
My hangnails were gone. My nails felt stronger, yet more flexible. I started to notice that when I jammed my nails into counters, etc. that they didn’t break as usual—they flexed and bent back.
Most people think my nails must be thick.
They aren’t!
My nails are so thin, that I also need polish for the added layers of strength. I continued to oil my nails 4 to 6 times a day, even with polish. My oil blend kept my polish flexible too.
You know how polish starts to create little cracks the longer you wear your manicure? (I’m speaking to those of you who last more than 3 days). My nail oil prevented those little cracks, so I could tell that it was penetrating the top layer of the polish.
After 4 months, my nails had grown to the length in the picture to the right. You can find more of my story on What Simply Pure™ Can Do For You.

The 3-Day Initial Hydration Treatment™
Your nails will absorb Simply Pure™ hydrating oil like a sponge so you will be reapplying frequently. It is best to use the Starter Kit for this treatment— one oil pen will most likely be empty after the first 3 days. (Don’t worry. You only go through this much the first few days.)
- Remove all nail polish
- Follow the daily application directions below. When you’re finished, your nails will feel a little oily.
- Periodically through the next hour or two, rub the surface oil into your nails. Each time you do this the nails will feel less oily.
- When you feel the oil has been absorbed and your nails aren’t oily, reapply. You’ll probably need 8 to 15 applications the first day!
- Repeat steps 2 to 4 for the first three days. Most people get to the point that it takes nails 4 hours or more hours to absorb the oil. Then you can move to the basic daily application.
- Now you’re ready to polish.

Tips For Success
- Water will wash away the oil. Try to keep your hands dry as much as possible. Always wear gloves when working with water.
- Wash ONLY your palms as much as possible
- Re-oil your nails and skin after every hand washing
Basic Daily Application: Two Times (2x) Daily or More
- Uncap the pen, twist end until you see oil in the bristles
- Brush oil all over your nail, cuticle, sidewalls and under your free edge of the nail. You only need a thin layer of oil. There is no need to look “all greased up.”
- Recap pen
- With your fingers, rub the oil into your nails and fingers up to the knuckle closest to your nail.
- Spend a little time rubbing the matrix (right behind the cuticle) This increases the blood flow to where your nail is formed so they will be stronger and healthier.
Tip: By the time you’re finished, the oil should be well rubbed in and you should not have any on the pads of your fingers.
Polishing Your Nails
* Color nail polish is formulated to bond with base coat—not nails.
3. Apply 1 – 3 coats of colored nail polish.
5. Using acetone and a makeup or artist brush, clean up your polish along the cuticle line.
* Here’s the article I wrote explaining why acetone is the best choice for removing polish.
6. Rehydrate your cuticle lines and surrounding skin with a high quality, jojoba based Nail and Cuticle Oil
7. Apply a new layer of topcoat daily or every-other day, wrapping it around your tips. Apply Nail Oil two times per day or more.
TIP: The ingredients that make a good topcoat bond to nail polish and have an incredible shine make it a horrible base coat! Steer away from any product labeled as basecoat AND topcoat. It will do neither one well.
Removal
After 7 days, remove your polish with acetone. Acetone is actually less drying to your nails than non-acetone because it dissolves the polish quicker.
I find that my Soak & Swipe Manicure Clips do a better job than the traditional foil wraps.
Nail Oil Mini-Hydration Cycle
- Apply a high quality, penetrating nail oil to your nails about once an hour for the next 4 to 8 hours.
- Or, do an intensive mini-hydration treatment with latex gloves. I have the instructions in my hydration treatment article.
